In November of 1915, my mother's mother, Laura Elizabeth Corwin, was born in North Canaan, Connecticut. Laura was the fourth and final child born of George Edward and Laura (Garvin) Corwin.

Note: You may notice the age of Laura Ida (Garvin) Corwin was altered after the certificate was typed up. By doing this, both the original age typed and the handwritten correction became illegible. However, knowing she was 38 at the time of Laura's birth, one can only assume that it was originally typed in as 28, and then later changed to 38 -- a rather unheard of age to have a child. This is more than likely the cause of the error to begin with. Whomever typed it up probably assumed age 38 was an error, and therefore took it upon themselves to type it as 28.
